Frequently Asked Questions
We've freqenently asked many questions by parents about what works, what doesn't and our opinions. We tell them, we just try and fail until we decide to stick to what works and scrap what doesn't. Below are a few of those questions.
When is it a good time to start sleep training my baby?
We recommend sleep training your baby early as 3 months old. (That being said, some parents start as early as 2.5 months old and this is okay also. We wouldn’t recommend anything earlier than that). As the first few months your baby will need you on demand to be fed, burped, changed and rocked to sleep. This is normal. The best time in our opinion to get started is at the 3 month mark.
However, whether you are sleep training a baby at 3 months, 6 months or waiting until he or she is a toddler (ages 1-4) the concepts shared in the Ultimate Sleep Schedule Guide will help your baby sleep on time, by themselves throughout the night and more.
How do I sleep train my baby while they are teething?
They may not sleep as much and that is okay. However you still need to follow the schedule as much as possible to build that behavior in your baby.
How do I get my baby’s sleep schedule back on track?
Consistency. The best way to get your baby back on their sleep schedule is to be consistent. This will also mean that as a parent you need to fully focus on your baby’s sleep habits and be patient and persistent. Consistency for babies is important to get your baby’s sleep schedule back on track. The Ultimate Sleep Schedule Guide provides you with a sleep schedule template as well as tips on how to be consistent.
My baby keeps crying in the middle of the night, what should I do?
Feed them. Although you are sleep training your baby, some babies may still want to be fed in the middle of the night (approximately 4:00am). This is a feed that is built into The Ultimate Sleep Schedule Guide, Phase 1 (for babies 3-5 months old), however some babies may sleep through the night, while others want that bottle until they are 1 years old or even older. Some babies may even give you the mix of both experiences. That’s okay. Long answer short, if your baby is crying chances are they are hungry.
Can I sleep train my baby earlier than 3 months old?
Yes. You don’t necessarily need to start at 3 months old, however we would recommend you don’t start any earlier than 2.5 months old. The reason for that is because your baby is too young and newborns will require a lot more sleep and randomly throughout the day. Starting too early can result in frustration from caregivers or parents and a cranky baby.
What’s an alternative solution to a sleep schedule for my baby?
We found The Ultimate Sleep Schedule Guide to be the best solution for us. We don’t know other solutions at this time. Some parents may consistently let their babies sleep by squeezing in a nap while driving, running errands, or just hold the baby until they fall asleep throughout the day. Although this might be the easy solution (and it is okay once in a while), it’s going to train your baby in the wrong way and it will be twice as hard to ween them off this habit later on.

Will my baby really sleep through the night on a sleep schedule?
Every baby is different. It takes time and won’t happen right away.
How long should I let my baby cry for when training him/her to sleep?
Generally your baby should stop crying within 15 minutes. If you notice non-stop crying for 5 minutes straight. Restart 15 mintues.
Is it okay to break my baby’s sleep schedule?
For the first couple of weeks it’s important to keep it conistant until your baby is actaully behaving on a schedule. After that, it’s okay to break it once in a while here and there.
What happens when you want to go out?
Once your baby is sleep trained and you can see they are doing well following a schedule, then it’s okay to be a little flexible with going out and interrupting their schedule a little. However doing that consistently will teach your baby the opposite of what a sleep schedule is supposed to be like.
